WTIC AM hosts 35th annual holiday store for the Salvation Army in Avon [Video]

AVON, CT (WFSB) – WTIC AM celebrated its 35th annual Holiday Store for the Salvation Army, wrapping up the event on Tuesday.

Brian Shactman and the WTIC crew broadcasted live from the Avon Old Farms Hotel throughout the morning, encouraging community members to stop by and make donations.

People generously contributed money, toys, and nonperishable food items to support those in need.

All donations directly benefit local families, helping them celebrate the holidays and supporting the Salvation Army’s year-round programs.

“For struggling parents who don’t know where to go to get gifts and to get food, the Salvation Army provides so many families with that opportunity to be able to take care of their families on Christmas morning,” said Major Migdalia Lavenbein of the Greater Hartford Area Salvation Army.

As of Tuesday morning, donations had reached approximately $200,000, with final totals expected to be released later today.
