James E. Payne joins the race for City of Buffalo Mayor [Video]

Payne told 2 On Your Side, “We have a deficiency in regard to leadership,” when asked why so many people are now running for mayor, including himself.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — As the race heats up for City of Buffalo Mayor, another candidate has put in their bid for the position.

Community organizer and educator James E. Payne announced on Tuesday, Dec. 24 his candidacy for the office of Mayor in the City of Buffalo.

Three years ago today, Dec. 24, 2022, Payne lost his youngest brother William Clay. William had froze to death during the fatal blizzard in Buffalo.

Losing his brother has been a major factor into his decision to run.

Payne announced his candidacy Tuesday morning at the very place where his brother lost his life: The ‘Imperial Mart’ on Kensington and Bailey Avenue.
