WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – Dozens of legal and advocacy organizations have launched a new project called Democracy 2025 to prepare for potential legal action against the new Trump administration.
“What we’ve seen in the last few weeks is that they made a series of announcements that are quite threatening to many communities across the country, and we want to make sure that people and communities have legal representation,” said Skye Perryman, President and CEO of Democracy Forward, who is leading the project.
The coalition of about 280 legal, expert and advocacy groups was formed to respond quickly with legal efforts to the president-elect’s actions if they violate the law or infringe on rights, said Perryman.
The group is prepared to respond to efforts to harm immigrant communities, dismantle parts of the country’s government, roll back health care access and take away labor protections.
