Sentara Health partners with Tidewater schools in liaison program meant to help students. [Video]

NORFOLK, Va. — Sentara Health announced a new initiative meant to help students, teachers, and schools all across the Tidewater area by connecting them with available resources they may not know about.

It’s described as a liaison program. Administrators will work with the liaison to get resources from health professionals on a wide variety of topics. 

This includes healthy lifestyle eating, fighting the opioid epidemic, and offering a wide range of mental health services.

“We built this tool for the community. It’s not a Sentara-only tool, it is a community tool,” said Lavinia Smith, senior director of behavioral health for Sentara Health Plans. “Our school liaison program is meant for everyone, and we invite all of the schools to engage with us, to partner with us.”
