What’s New
In Texas, five people have been injured and a driver has been shot dead by police after driving his car into the Killeen Mall outside of Austin at around 5 p.m. local time on Saturday afternoon.
The suspect has not yet been named by police.
What To Know
Sergeant Bryan Washko of the Texas Department of Public Safety gave a press conference late on Saturday night in which he detailed the incident.
Washko said the driver in question was called in as a possible DUI driver, and when a Texas Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, it did not give right of way. The vehicle then exited a highway, entered the parking lot of the mall, and then drove through glass doors into a JCPenney store. The driver then continued to travel “several hundred yards” striking “multiple people” in the process.
