Tennessee Representative Mark White talks bringing in state to help MSCS issues [Video]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Since Memphis-Shelby County Schools board members attempted to terminate superintendent Dr. Marie Feagins’ contract at Tuesday’s board meeting, they have caught the attention of state leaders.

State Representative Mark White, who is the education chair for the General Assembly, said that he is calling for changes to be made. 

During a press conference with The Memphis Lift, concerned Memphis residents, and MSCS teachers, White said his goal is to get in the same room Dr. Feagins and board members to iron out their issues before the state can intervene. 

White said after witnessing Tuesday night’s MSCS board meeting, he does not believe MSCS can thrive moving forward.
