CLARKSON, Neb. (WOWT) – A wildfire in Colfax County has prompted authorities to close Highway 15 between the junctions of highways 32 and 91 on Thursday afternoon.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation posted on social media at about 2 p.m., advising travelers to find another way around that part of the county. The roadway reopened about three hours later.
The First Alert 6 Weather team warned about fire danger on Thursday as wind gusts were expected to approach 60 mph in some areas.
Fire was also burning just north of that area, near Pilger, Neb., in Stanton County. It was not yet clear whether that was a separate fire or part of the same wildfire.
