- Sony has struck a deal with FromSoftware-owner Kadokawa Group after buying millions of shares.
- Kadokawa says that Sony is now its biggest shareholder, with 10 percent of shares.
- The two are now planning to focus on making films and TV series from Kadokawa IP, which includes FromSoftware’s Elden Ring.
Despite initial plans from Sony to buy the Kadokawa Group and all of its IP in what would have been a nearly $3 billion deal, it seems that the two companies have instead agreed to form a “strategic partnership” where Sony gets to use Kadokawa’s IP in “joint ventures.”
Sony is currently hoarding every single IP it can like slovenly Fafnir upon his glittering heath, with its current CEO Kenichiro Yoshida believing that “Loveable characters and intellectual property (IP) can live for 30, 50 or 100 years.”
