1 injured, 1 killed after being struck by pick-up truck in Crawford/Monroe line [Video]

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ga. — A man was injured and a woman was killed after being hit by a truck at the Monroe/Crawford County line, according to a press release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

They say it happened on Monday at around 7:20 p.m. on Highway 42 North near Hays Farm Road.

Coroner Sheldon Mattox says the two victims — a 28-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man — were hit by a pick-up truck while walking in the middle of the highway. They were walking south at the time, Mattox said.

The woman was identified as Brittaney Nicole McDowell of Atlanta, Mattox said.

The woman had died from her injuries when deputies arrived on the scene, but the man was taken to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon where he is being treated for his injuries, the …
