Neighbors express concern about proposed West Ashley development [Video]

Pulte has proposed the “Long Savanna” project off Bear Swamp Road in West Ashley. It would consist of infrastructure improvements like public roadways, water and sewer main extensions as well as onsite stormwater management systems.

The plan includes 116 townhome units and 67 single-family units on 156 acres, 183 homes in all, and would be completed in five phases.

Some who live in nearby communities said they hope the city of Charleston would pump the brakes on the project.

“It seems like they put up housing and apartments faster than they think about the road systems and they just keep pushing people in and they don’t think about the roads and it just makes it more difficult for us to get around,” West Ashley resident Kevin Mikles said.
