On Your Side: Springfield couple warns community about scammers after home found listed for rent [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – When you’re selling your home, you cross your fingers that everything goes well and leads to a smooth transition. At least, that’s what Cascy and Jonathan Cossey were hoping when they listed their house for sale back on December 5.

But a phone call from their realtor, would put a damper on things.

“Our realtor called us and said that somebody had contacted her saying they had been scammed out of their money,” said Cascy.

According to Cossey, the person contacted their realtor after seeing the home in a listing on the Facebook marketplace. The listing showed the home was available for rent-to-own.

Cossey says most of the listing was exactly what their realtor listed. The pictures were the same, as was much of the description. However, the Facebook listing said it was a two-bedroom rather than a three-bedroom.
