Calera Middle School participates in life-saving training for students and staff [Video]

CALERA, Ala. (WBRC) – Monday, 800 students and staff at Calera Middle School were given the chance to learn CPR, a skill that could save someone’s life one day.

The training was part of a joint partnership between the school, the city, and Calera’s police and fire departments.

Principal Desaree Jackson said many students go home every day and are often their younger siblings’ or grandparents’ caretakers.

With that in mind, Jackson knew CPR was a skill every kid needs.

“This is just another tool to put into their back pocket so that they can also learn how to save a life,” he said.

To the beat of the music, for 2 minutes, each student practiced giving CPR in a fun, safe and educational environment.
