A Queensland builder is bringing essential to housing to people in need on Thursday Island, recently completing the fastest development ever made across the entire Torres Strait Islands.
Oly Homes recently completed nine modular homes for struggling people in the community, with four houses, two accessible units and three studio units.
The homes will be under contract for around the next 20 years under the government, to be leased out to those on the island in need of affordable housing.
The development took eight months from the signing of the contract, working off a $6 million budget.
With other builds taking between two and three years due to the remote location, General Manager Steven Nousala estimated it was the fastest completed development across the Torres Strait Isles.
