BANGOR — A new winner has been named in the battle for the best tasting water in Maine.
The event is held at the Maine Rural Water Association’s Annual Conference and brings together public water systems from across the state to compete for bragging rights and a chance at a national win.
Dozens of community water systems from across the state piled into Bangor’s Cross Insurance Center Thursday to compete for the title of “Maine’s Best-Tasting Water.”
This year, Maine Mobile Home’s Friendly Village in Gorham was crowned as the winner — unseating last year’s champion — the Brewer Water Department.
“[We’ve] never won the top spot, so this is a good one. We’ve got a good water source — excellent water,” said John Richard, director of communities for Maine Mobile Homes Friendly Village.
