EASTON, Pa. – Easton City Council approved the city’s 2025 budget Wednesday night.

The $38.5 million spending plan contains no property tax increase. The 2025 spending plan is roughly a $200,000 or 3.5% reduction from the 2024 budget.

Mayor Sal Panto’s administration presented various amendments to the mayor’s original proposed budget in October. Those changes included using American Rescue Plan Act funds before the year’s end, thus freeing up in the city’s General Fund.

Other amendments included additional wages for two part-time security guards and custodians at city hall; a $6,000 decrease in funding for cellular phones; and a $20,000 line item for public relations firm Blabbermouth, along with reallocation of various funds to administration departments.

In addition, the city is negotiating with a prospective tenant for the office space in city hall that was vacated by Valor Insurance. Should the deal become realized, it would alter the 2025 budget, Luis Campos, city administrator, told City Council Wednesday night.
