WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A teacher at a Wilmington charter school is hoping to get some financial help to buy educational games for her young students.
Ms. Tierney-Prim, a pre-K through second-grade teacher at Wilmington Preparatory Academy is asking for donations through DonorsChoose, an online charity that helps teachers get funding for school projects.
“I have students on very different academic levels,” Ms. Tierney-Prim says on her DonorsChoose page. “One great way to get them all working together as a cohesive group is through play. When the children are engaged in a fun phonics, math, or language arts game, they are all on equal ground. Even the ones who are normally shy and reserved come out of their shells. I am hoping to provide fun and engaging learning games and manipulatives to my students so they can learn while having fun and interact more with each other.”
