The Bentonville School District announced Tuesday morning three schools will be implementing new learning models for Fall 2025. The district is calling them ‘parent-choice’ schools. Sugar Creek Elementary will be Sugar Creek Arts Academy, Thomas Jefferson Elementary will be Thomas Jefferson Leadership Academy. Ruth Barker Middle will continue its International Baccalaureate program. Students currently zoned for these schools will still have their spots. There will be approximately 150 to 200 seats available per ‘parent-choice’ school for parents who are outside of the zone but still within the Bentonville school district. Superintendent of Bentonville Schools, Dr. Debbie Jones, said the district is experiencing growth, and they wanted to attract more families to downtown schools. “…rather than force rezone or using other methods, we really wanted to create unique models so that parents wanted their students enrolled in things like Arts Academy or the Leadership Academy,” Jones said.
