They say he slammed his car into the store’s front door before breaking into the building.
MACON, Ga. — A man was arrested in Macon after he barricaded himself in a store he was breaking into, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
They say it happened at Academy Sports at 1689 Eisenhower Parkway around 10:10 p.m. Sunday evening, but in an updated press release, the sheriff’s office says that is just the tip of the iceberg.
They say the man had also stolen a car earlier that night and opened fire at multiple downtown locations.
Deputies, hostage negotiators and members of the SWAT team responded to the scene after they say Frank Fletcher Jr., 39, broke into the sporting goods store. They say he rammed his car into the store’s front door to get into the building.
