Volleyball fever: Sports popularity continuing to spike in Nebraska [Video]

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – It’s been a very successful time for volleyball in Nebraska.

“It’s pretty surreal, especially that volleyball day they did at Memorial Stadium,” said Creighton University student, Chris Harris.

In August of 2023, Volleyball Day in Nebraska set an attendance world record for women’s sports. The Huskers and UNO playing in front of over 92,000 fans in 2023.

The Omaha community has been phenomenal in the way they support women playing volleyball at all levels,” said Suzie Fritz, head coach of Omaha League One Volleyball.

This year, fans filled CHI Health Center to cheer the Omaha Supernovas as they won the first ever Pro Volleyball Federation Championship.

Currently, both the Bluejays and the Huskers are hosting the first and second rounds hoping to advance to the Final Four.
