Rising Detroit middleweight DaVelle Smith returns to Flint in Big Time Boxing event [Video]

Detroit middleweight prospect Da’Velle Smith looks to remain unbeaten on Dec.12 when he takes on William Townsel in an eight-round super middleweight bout at the Dort Financial Center.

Smith, who is 10-0 with eight wins coming by knockout is regarded as Detroit’s finest middleweight prospect since Tommy “Hitman” Hearns. Smith is called “Hitman 2.0″ due to similarities in size, fighting style and training out of the legendary Kronk gym.

Standing at 6 feet 2 inches tall, Smith uses his height to set up his devastating right-hand. He has the rare combination of size, speed and power that is reminiscent of Hearns’ style.

“It’s a great honor people comparing me to Tommy Hearns,” said Smith. “I don’t think our styles are the exact same but same frame, beautiful right-hand behind it.”
