OpenAI today announced its strategic partnership with Anduril Industries to supply artificial intelligence solutions for ‘national security missions’. Anduril Industries is a defence tech company based out of the United States, founded in 2017 by Palmer Luckey.
The partnership is set to enhance the United States defence systems and those of its allies by protecting attacks by ‘unmanned drones and other aerial devices’.
“[The partnership] will focus on improving the nation’s counter-unmanned aircraft systems (CUAS) and their ability to detect, assess and respond to potentially lethal aerial threats in real-time,” read the official statement.
Anduril, along with OpenAI, will explore the possibility of using AI models to ‘reduce the burden of human operators’. The models will be trained on Anduril’s data on CUAS threats and operations.
