A special events and photography venue is planned for a roughly 83-acre parcel on Buffalo Springs Turnpike in Amherst County.
The Amherst County Planning Commission at its November meeting unanimously recommended approval of a special exception permit for the proposed venue at 154 Buffalo Springs Turnpike, which is close to U.S. 60 and the Dodds Store Convenience Center for waste disposal.
The petitioner, Mark and Andrea Hamm, are seeking the permit for their land zoned A-1, agricultural residential.
Tyler Creasy, director of community development, said the surrounding areas in general have the same characteristics as the Hamm’s subject parcel. Properties to the east have “village” zoning, one lot is vacant and the other is the Pedlar Volunteer Fire Department, Creasy said.
