Resourcing Tomorrow divisional director Andrew Thake talked with Proactive’s Stephen Gunnion about the success of the 2024 event and the industry’s key challenges and opportunities. Thake shared that this year’s highlights included a government roundtable at the London Stock Exchange, keynote speeches from prominent industry figures, and exceptional attendance of over 2,000 participants.
Thake emphasised the event’s focus on “Breaking Out of the Echo Chamber” by involving governments, energy companies, and OEMs alongside mining companies and investors. He also highlighted the event’s push to attract young talent, with over 200 students participating in networking opportunities sponsored by BHP.
Addressing the industry’s commitment to net zero, Thake noted that mining companies are increasingly genuine about sustainability efforts, aligning with investor expectations. Additionally, gold continues to dominate interest, with increased investor engagement compared to the previous year.
