NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Some New Orleans-area brick-and-mortar stores said they are struggling this year to keep up with big-box stores and online shopping for holiday sales.
However, in these digitally-driven days, other small businesses told Fox 8 on Cyber Monday (Dec. 2) that online shopping has taken off for them.
“Cyber Monday, we did have a lot of online orders, and just bigger purchases maybe than we’re used to,” said Mary Tebbe, manager at Nola Boo.
Social media plays a huge part in marketing for businesses such as Nola Boo, which uses Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, an app and hosts live sales.
“We really try to hit it all,” Tebbe said. “Making all that content, kind of really preparing ahead of time, is the best way to do it.”
The store also has a sale room and is helping boost business by adding Sundays to its operating hours during December.
