DETROIT (WJRT) – Millington defeated Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central, 24-0, to win the school’s first-ever football state championship and complete a 14-0 perfect season.
Senior running back Dallas Walsh was the engine for the Cardinals offense, rushing for 114 yards and a touchdown.
“We were the underdog all year,” Walsh said. “We took it personal. We kind of thought we were destined to do this. The whole community thought so as well.”
Head coach Jason Germain has been at the helm as head coach for the Cardinals since 2022, leading the team to a 36-3 record during that stretch.
“After we won last week, some of the kids I heard them saying, ‘I don’t want this to end,'” Germain said. “We’d play next week if we could.”
