WARREN (WWJ) Dozens of Warren police and dispatchers showed up to support the young son of a critically-injured fellow officer at a hockey game in Mount Clemens.
According to a social media post by Warren Police Department; Officer Nick Kott suffered “a devastating fall” while on a hunting trip with his family in mid-November.
He was placed on a ventilator in the Neurological ICU at University of Michigan Hospital with no feeling from his neck down, “fighting for his life.” His wife, Holli, and their 7-year-old son, Jack, remain by his side.
Officer Nick Kott played, coached and refereed hockey throughout his lifetime. Jack, “eager to follow in his father’s footsteps”, plays on the Lakeland Hawks youth hockey team, police said.
“For the Kott family, hockey is more than a sport. It is a passion, a bond, a tradition,” Warren Police said in a press release.
