Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity serve up Thanksgiving meals in Dallas County [Video]

BUFFALO, Mo. (KY3) – When you think of Habitat for Humanity, you probably think of people building homes for people in the community, or thrift stores, but on Thanksgiving Day, they’re all about serving meals in the community.

In fact, this Thanksgiving, more than 50 volunteers from the Dallas County chapter of Habitat for Humanity served around 600 meals at the YMCA building in Buffalo. But preparing a meal this large, started back in October. That’s when Habitat for Humanity began collecting donations from more than 100 sponsors to pay for the meals.

“We have plenty of volunteers in the community and I really want to put up a kudos out to the community businesses,” said LeRoy Laudenbach, a Habitat for Humanity volunteer. “All our small businesses, they chip in, whether it’s $50, a $100, couple of them give $200. So the meal is funded upfront.”
