Wilson Asset Management founder and chairman Geoff Wilson says Donald Trump’s US election victory has brought forward the Santa rally this year and the market is unlikely to see more huge gains in December. The ASX 200 is up 11.2% since the start of the year and the S&P 500 has surged 25.8%. Geoff Wilson says the catalyst for further gains will be more interest rate cuts in the US and eventually in Australia as well as a lowering of the corporate tax rate in the US that has been promised by a Trump administration. He says headwinds will come in the form of tariffs if they eventuate and potentially higher inflation.
