‘Juice Bowl’ gears up for another year in Shawnee Park [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A west Louisville tradition held on Thanksgiving Day since the 1950s is gearing up for this year’s festivities.

The Juice Bowl will take place on Nov. 28.

The event features youth football games and highlights the importance of sportsmanship and community.

“I’m excited to host the second annual Juice Bowl Parade for the community on Thanksgiving morning,” Councilwoman Donna Purvis, District 5, said. “Please bring your family and friends to cheer along the parade route, and then join us in Shawnee Park for fun and games! This is an annual tradition you don’t want to miss.”

The festivities start at 9 a.m. with a parade beginning at Dumesnil Street and Southwestern Parkway, then traveling along the parkway to Shawnee Park.

Purvis said local organizations and special guests will also be on hand.

The Juice Bowl games begin right after the parade concludes.
