MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Saraland City Hall is relocating to a much larger building. This 95,000-square-foot space will house city hall, council chambers, the local court system, the chamber of commerce, planning department and the building and permit office.
“We thought it was a great chance to get a quality, very iconic looking city hall right in the heart of Saraland. We’re trying to rejuvenate and revitalize Highway 43 and I think this new facility is going to go a long way towards achieving that goal,” explained Mayor Howard Rubenstein.
As for the cost, the city purchased the building for about $4.6 million and plans to spend an additional $2 million refurbishing it using bond funds.
In the first phase of the project, all city offices currently at the K-Mart center will relocate to this new complex by next summer.
