Zumbro Valley Medical Society designs software platform to help local homeless population | News [Video]

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The homeless population in Olmsted County will have a new software platform at their disposal called OPAL which stands for Olmsted Partnership for Assistance and Lifelines. It will help with sharing medical information with providers and requesting social services. 

Zumbro Valley Medical Society (ZVMS) and the PathCheck Foundation are partnering to build the platform. PathCheck Foundation is a non-profit software platform based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. ZMVS Executive Director Beth Kanagas says the goal of the platform is to make it easier on the homeless.

“We really want to put the burden on the system instead of on the individual,” said Kangas. “It’s a lot of work to be unhoused and so we don’t want to add extra work.”
