Navy sailor’s rental car found in same river his body was found [Video]

TELFAIR COUNTY, Ga. — There’s a new twist in the case of Navy sailor Devin Jeter who was found dead in the Ocmulgee River last week. 

Jeter’s last known vehicle — a rented white Jeep Compass — was recovered Tuesday morning from the Ocmulgee River in Telfair County, not far from where his body was found last Monday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations announced in a press release.

Jeter, 25, was last seen at Hartsfield Jackson Airport on Nov. 7 while on his way back to his Navy post in Jacksonville, but he would not arrive alive. 

The GBI says other sailors notified Jeter’s family that he had not arrived as expected, causing his family to report him missing to the Atlanta Police Department on Nov. 8.
