Families in Need Will Get Free Laptops Monday [Video]

INDIANAPOLIS — Families in need will get free laptops Monday, thanks to an effort by AT&T and Human-I-T to “help close the digital divide.”

At this giveaway, 100 refurbished laptops will be given to “pre-selected Indianapolis families,” and a tech team will be available to help with setups. Chosen families do not currently have devices at home.

The “digital divide” essentially refers to the gap between those who have Internet and device access, and those who do not. One study shows that about 13% of Hoosier households don’t have such access.

The giveaway will kick off at 5:30 p.m. at the Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center on West Morris Street.
