First responders serve a Thanksgiving feast for seniors | News [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Police and Fire Departments helping Meals on Wheels during their annual Thanksgiving Dinner. The event was hosted at the Minneluzahan Senior Center in Rapid City and was completely donation based. Meals on Wheels of Western South Dakota serves nearly 10,000 meals in the Rapid City area alone, and targets senior citizens who are unable to leave their home or and don’t know where their next meal will come from. The annual Thanksgiving Dinner provides a special opportunity to bring together those who might otherwise spend the holidays alone.

“Every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas we have a community-based dinner where people can come in,” said George Larson, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels of Western South Dakota, “Maybe your grandma can’t normally afford to pay to have someone to come or can’t make the meal herself.
