BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – Volunteers at Meadow Land Baptist Church have worked hard to meet the growing needs of hungry community members on Bowling Green’s west end, though the community’s need is quickly outgrowing their space.
Church volunteers are seeing record numbers of participants in their weekly food pickup events, as well as their weekly hot lunch programs at Carpenter Park.
In addition to their monthly large-scale events supported by Feeding America, the church hosts as-needed food box pickups by appointment throughout the week, totaling up to 180 families that are fed through the small church each week.
While they have the volunteers necessary to keep up with the demand, their storage space inside the church is dwindling. They’re now working to renovate a storage building on the church’s property to serve as a more permanent storage space.
