Botala Energy Ltd (ASX:BTE) is advancing energy solutions in Southern Africa by integrating coal bed methane (CBM) and solar energy to address the region’s energy crisis. The company aims to help meet the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 7, which promotes affordable and sustainable energy access.

Botala’s flagship Serowe CBM Project in Botswana is now fully owned by the company, with a 42% certified increase in CBM resources, totalling 454 billion cubic feet. Gas quality tests confirm a methane purity of up to 94%, ensuring commercial viability. Feasibility studies highlight economic potential, with a five-well pilot projected to generate up to 10 megawatts of electricity. Future plans include gas liquefaction, compression and integration into hybrid systems.
