DCCC to turn old high school into new culinary arts facility [Video]

UPPER DARBY, P.A. (KYW Newsradio) — Delaware County Community College, the Delaware County Council, and Visit DELCO are teaming up to transform the old Archbishop Prendergast High School in Upper Darby into a multi-million dollar education and workforce development center.

It will be part of the community college’s planned new campus in Upper Darby.

The biggest part of the new center will be its culinary arts facility that DCCC President Dr. Marta Cronin will feature two state-of-the-art kitchens for students to learn and experiment. Beyond, the goal is to get them right into the workforce.

“It gives all the local businesses first dibs at the graduates,” said Cronin. “It puts them on our advisory committee to make sure we’re giving those students the skills that they need and sending them out into the world.”

She went on to say that the money for the new facility comes from hotel tax funds.
