Powell neighbors light up homes blue to support the family of Savannah Copeland [Video]

POWELL, Tenn. (WVLT) – When 13-year-old Savannah Copeland was killed in the Broadacres neighborhood of Powell last month, it shocked people that live nearby.

“We are a close community in Powell. We love each other, and when something happens in our community, everybody feels it,” said neighbor Michelle Fisher.

Fisher and others in the area wanted to do their part to show a family in the midst of grief that people in East Tennessee are thinking about them.

In the aftermath of this tragedy, many have left flowers by the memorial in the neighborhood, or shared kind words with the family.

Fisher found out that Savannah’s favorite color was blue and decided to make an effort to have people all across East Tennessee light up the outside of their homes with blue lights.
