ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Anchorage School District has delayed changing the bell schedule for high school students next fall, according to a letter to families Monday.
In the letter, the district said bell schedules for high school students will remain unchanged for the 2025-26 school year as they plan to implement its Academies of Anchorage for those grade levels, a plan designed to prepare kids for the workforce.
The school district says it will now be adjusting those implementation plans in the coming months with district leadership.
“I also recognize the uncertainty in our community surrounding funding from the State of Alaska and the U.S. Department of Education,” Superintendent Dr. Jharrett Bryantt said in the statement. ”For the 2025-26 school year, our intent is that the implementation of the Academies of Anchorage is cost-neutral to the general fund and scaled more modestly than originally planned.”
