Six Flags Park Demolition in New Orleans Delayed Over Licensing [Video]

NEW ORLEANS — The demolition of the old Six Flags Amusement Park has been postponed because the contractor lacks the necessary licensing, according to Nola.com.

The developer, Bayou Phoenix, said its “prime demolition contractor, Smoot Consulting and Construction, lacks a specialty certification in dismantling and rigging,” a representative told our partners.

Smoot Consulting will have to pay a state fee to obtain the certification or Bayou Phoenix will have to choose another prime contractor.

Last month, Smoot was flagged by the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors after it applied for a demolition permit.

According to Nola.com, the Department of Safety and Permits issued a permit on Nov. 7 and then “quickly issued a stop-work order.”
