Boone County residents gathered Tuesday to address the county’s Planning and Zoning Commission, hoping to halt a rezoning request that would permit a 5.75-acre industrial site along Route B near 5500 East Parks Lane in Hallsville.

A group of neighboring landowners submitted a formal letter to the commission before the meeting, outlining numerous concerns and requesting that the rezoning application be denied. They argue that the industrial development would bring significant safety risks, property devaluation and lifestyle disruptions to the community.

The proposal, which seeks to rezone an agricultural site to a light industrial zone (A-2 to M-LP), has stirred opposition from local residents who feel the development would drastically alter the area’s character and pose potential traffic hazards, particularly with the anticipated increase in semi-truck traffic.
