The Thanksgiving collaboration with Connecticut Foodshare continues.
EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — Car after car pulled up to the curb in front of Goodwin University’s Food Pantry in East Hartford to unload what was, essentially, pure holiday cheer. But it was heavy lifting — and that was a good thing. Turkey donations kept coming in for Goodwin’s annual turkey drive which they partner with Connecticut Foodshare to help families in need to get a Thanksgiving meal each year.
“We’re just trying to make a small dent in what Connecticut Foodshare is trying to accomplish this holiday season,” said Isamar Rodriguez. She’s the service learning coordinator at Goodwin University who also oversees the on-campus co-op and food pantry
“It’s not just fighting hunger with our students but also with our extended community,” Rodriguez added.
The goal at Goodwin was to collect 100 turkeys and $1,500 in donations, a goal which was about to be met in just the first few hours …
