Both Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez did what was expected in Philadelphia on Saturday, successfully defending their respective world titles against underdog challengers at Wells Fargo Center.

Boots (33-0, 29 KOs) retained his IBF welterweight title with a 12-round unanimous decision win over Karen Chukhadzhian in a rematch that only the IBF was interested in seeing. With that said, the Ukrainian challenger put up stiff resistance and performed much better than in their January 2023 encounter.

Official scores were 119-107, 117-109 and 116-111.

“I was prepared for anything [Chukhadzhian] was coming with,” said a downbeat Boots during his post-fight interview with DAZN. “I wanted to get that knockout. I hurt him a lot of times, but I was rushing. You know how it is. My corner told me to use more angles. If I fight a better guy, I’ll be way better.”
