MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — A group of Mesa students is reaching for the stars. This week, they visited Florida to watch their science experiment launch to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard SpaceX’s 31st Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) mission.
“It was so much fun when we were sitting in the bleachers watching the rocket take off. It was incredible. Oh my gosh, I was part of something on that rocket,” said Elizabeth, a sophomore student who was part of the project.
As part of the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP), students from Red Mountain High School, Zaharis Elementary, and the STEM Institute at Red Mountain Ranch Elementary School had to create a unique science experiment.
SSEP is an international program that provides student groups with opportunities to design and fly microgravity experiments in low-Earth orbit.
