The Downtown Rescue Mission teamed up with the Aerospace and Defense company, L3Harris, to help feed people in need in North Alabama.
More than 100 L3Harris workers came together on Friday to assemble boxed lunches to give back to the less fortunate.
“It just means a lot, you know, nobody’s forgotten, nobody’s left behind,” said Ashleigh Hayes, Downtown Rescue Mission public relations coordinator.
“We’re looking at about 2,000 boxed lunches today for our community so these will be given out to the women and children, the men, and those who are homeless in our community that need a meal so it’s going to go to a lot of people,” said Hayes.
The Aerospace and Defense Companies Community Outreach Program partners with area nonprofits to give back to the community. The operations manager says this is the first of many “Lift Events” for their Huntsville branch.
