Big changes are slated for the Richmond School Board as five out of nine districts are scheduled to see new leadership following Tuesday night’s election.
2nd District
Newcomer Katie Ricard unseated incumbent Mariah White with 58.9% of the vote, or roughly 6,158 votes.
“I appreciate that Ms. White and I ran positive campaigns where we focused on what skills and experiences we can bring to the community,” Ricard said Wednesday. “I am honored to have won and am excited to do the work to support the students, parents, teachers and schools in District 2 and all of Richmond.”
Ricard has a background in education, working as a history teacher as well as an assistant principal at Monacan High School in Chesterfield County. She previously served as president of the William Fox Elementary School PTA.
