Fulton Police were busy on election day with bomb threats reported at 32 of Fulton County’s 177 total polling sites.
Police Chief W. Wade Yates, in a press conference about the threats, explained that this wasn’t unexpected. “We planned heavily for the incident of a bomb threat being called in. And it’s a good thing we did because that’s the only thing that happened today was 32 bomb threats at different polling locations.”
He continued that 27 of the sites were cleared quickly without need for evacuations. But five sites were temporarily closed and evacuations during sweeps.
No bombs were actually found, and the sources of the threats are not yet known. The investigation into the treats is still ongoing.
