Election 2024: After 4-day summit in Omaha, advocacy group wants higher Black voter turnout [Video]

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The campaign at the top of the ticket between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump has been anything but predictable.

Some members of Links Inc. — a social and service organization of prominent Black women that just held a four-day summit in Omaha — tell 6 News they’re not pleased with the level of election participation from the Black community.

“I remember when my parents walked to the polls for the very first time and how emotional that was, so for us to think our vote doesn’t count means that we have been educated improperly, because the vote does count,” said Dr. Sheila R. Brown, the central area director for Links Inc.

Brown says this election is important because the nation is dealing with a lot of issues.
