Girls lemonade stand raises money for fallen Wethersfield firefighters family [Video]

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — A girl from Berlin handed off a check Thursday to the family of a Wethersfield firefighter who died after the UTV he was riding in rolled over.

Robert “Sharky” Sharkevich Sr, 66, was killed Tuesday. He was part of a crew that was working to contain a brush fire in Berlin. The fire had reached about 100 acres, as of Thursday night.

“The support that comes out of the community is overwhelming,” his brother, Gary Sharkevich, said.

Scarlett Campbell raised $137 from her lemonade stand. She handed Sharkevich’s family the money at the Wethersfield Fire Department.

“I think that it’s something good, and I think everyone should do something like this to change the world,” she said.

The family expressed their thanks.

“It does help,” Rob Sharkevich Jr. said. “Hearing it, and seeing it, being around everybody. It’s overwhelming, but a good overwhelming.”
