Fare-Free Bus Pilot

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) launched a fare-free bus pilot program on Sept. 24, 2023 on five routes, one in each borough, for a period of six to 12 months. In The Bronx, Bx18 A/B operates daily from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. in a loop, serving Undercliff Avenue or Sedgwick Avenue, Grand Concourse/East 170th Street, Macombs Road, Tremont Avenue, 168th Street and 170th Street. It serves Morris Heights, Highbridge and Mount Eden neighborhoods and connects to the​ ​trains and several other bus routes. Nearby major employers and institutions include Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center and Bronx Community College.
